Press Release

8th November 2006
Luxury weekend went off with a bang

For Jim and Gayle Hadaway the weekend of 3-5 November 2006 won’t just be remembered as the anniversary of the gunpowder plot, but also the weekend where they enjoyed a luxury weekend in Newcastle and Gateshead, all expenses-paid.

As part of a competition led by housebuilder William Leech 55+, Gayle and Jim where treated to: dinner at La Riviera restaurant on the Gateshead Quays, a concert at The Sage Gateshead, lunch at the BALTIC’s Roof Top restaurant and tickets to watch Newcastle United play. As part of their prize they also stayed in one of William Leech’s luxury apartments at its St James’ Court, St James’ Village development in Gateshead.

Upon arrival to their luxury apartment the couple were presented with a gift box, courtesy of Roses are Red, which included long-stemmed roses, chocolates, a glass vase and bath oils, they were also given a luxury breakfast hamper and £50 spending money.

Melanie Barratt from William Leech 55+, presented the winning couple with the keys, she said: “The Hadaways were particularly excited to get their weekend started when they arrived and it sounds as though they thoroughly enjoyed their weekend.”

Jim and Gayle live in Dunston, Gateshead and have three children, Ryan, 28, Sharynann, 22, and Hannah, 13.  Gayle said: “The weekend was absolutely fantastic. As soon as we walked through the door on Friday afternoon until we left on Sunday morning, we were swept off our feet with things to do.

“Newcastle and Gateshead has some of the best attractions to visit in the UK and the service and quality of food we received in both of the restaurants was second to none.

“The best part for Jim was definitely going to the match has he hasn’t been in over 30 years and I especially enjoyed watching the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at The Sage Gateshead.

“The luxury apartment we stayed in was very comfortable and the staff at the development were very approachable and friendly.

“The whole weekend has certainly given us something to think about as to where we will retire to. Our intention was to retire to Turkey once Hannah had finished her education, but, then again, staying in Gateshead is looking much more appealing!”

Prices start from just £96,950 at St James’ Court, James’ Village, Gateshead. The complex of 63 apartments, which was officially opened by Sir Bobby Robson CBE, offers residents exceptional security features including secure entry door access, a burglary alarm to each apartment and 24-hour assistance from a property management company.
